In term of exterior, The 5-door Thar resembles the Thar 3-door version. The model is longer, featuring a larger grille for a more distinct presence. Mahindra has also upgraded to LED lights with LED DRL and LED taillights. The 5-door Thar comes with 18-inch alloy wheels that complement its bold design.

Mahindra Thar 5 door version has two engine option: petrol and diesel. With 2.0-liter mStallion Turbo Petrol engine, it generates 170 bhp power and 320 Nm torque and comes with both 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic gearbox. With 2.2-liter mHawk Diesel engine, it generates 150 bhp power and 300 Nm torque and comes with both 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic gearbox. The 5-door Thar provides an estimated fuel efficiency between 12kmpl to 15kmpl.
